FAQs

What is Play Built Resilience?

The belief that resilience cannot be learned – it must be experienced.  Through iterative exercises we push children to exceed their preconceived limits and teach them how to breathe in response to the stress in our fun play sport framework.

How do I enroll my child in Play Built Resilience Boot Camps?

Enroll with a group of 6-12 kids, or sign up for one of our rolling camps which take place weekly throughout San Diego County. Group cohesion, but a child can complete the boot camp with more than one group in order to attend all eight classes. Christmas, Spring and summer breaks provide the opportunity to fit all 8 classes over the course of one week.

How do you know IA works?

Every program is rigorously piloted to evaluate program effectiveness prior to launch. We use pre and post surveys that both children and caregivers fill out and collect qualitative reports from children and parents. We have received many praise reports from parents observing their child using the breathing techniques at home. We have shared accounts of success with school tests, baseball tournaments, managing disagreements with siblings, following stopping to breathe. We have recruited a Public Health professional and are carrying out ongoing evaluation with both our school and neighborhood programs.

Is it Therapy?

We are creating a new type of play therapy that is physiological and not clinical.  Utilizing an escalate, de-escalate approach to teach healthy coping strategies, we aim to strengthen your child’s instinctive response to stress.

How much does it cost?

Roughly $20-30 per hour per child

Are Instructors vetted?
